Amongst Our Tribe formed in 2011 in Sonoma County Ca. when Billy Alford traveled to California from his native Texas to record at legendary Prairie Sun Studios. He met drummer Rusty Chopps at a local gig. The two then recruited Levi Lloyd (one of their favorite artists in the area), to sing and play guitar on the album. Ron Viel (Uncle Spot Amps) suggested Mike Emerson for keyboards. Last to come on board was bassist/vocalist Tommy Miller (Gregg Allman and Friends).

Amongst Our Tribe recorded 13 songs at Prairie Sun with producer/engineer Isha Erskine .

The end result was a very unique and organic blend of hard driving Texas blues, and deep, soulful original American roots music.

The self-titled album, Amongst Our Tribe, will be released in the fall of 2011.
